Outerwild's in-house machined AR15 billet upper receivers are the perfect complement to our billet lowers. Machined from a solid brick of 7075-T6 aluminum, hand deburred, tumbled and hard coat anodized. Accepts all Mil-Spec components and fits all Mil-Spec dimensions lower receivers. We ensure that every upper is well within spec and will function perfectly for your build.

The updated design has a thinner top rail allowing a larger handguard selection from other OEM's. The ejection port cover rod is also no longer fully covered allowing the use of our knurled ejection port cover rods.

    Great Quality! Missed An Opportunity

Outerwild has great products and this updated billet upper receiver is no different! The coating is great, fit and finish is spot on! No issues other than wishing that they cut out a little more material on the bottom near the front pivot pin boss and under the receiver threads to match the mil-spec dimensions (only talking about 1/4" of material that would need to be removed on each angle) to allow pretty much every rail on the market to fit! As it stands right now the Geissele Mk series of rails and the RipCord Industries Gen 1 and 2 rails WILL NOT fit this upper due to the location of the alignment bosses on the rails and them interfering with the additional material on the bottom of the upper receiver. This was a missed opportunity for OW as they could of been the only company in the space that offered a billet 7075 billet upper that would of taken pretty much all the rails on the market most likely. Unfortunately I can not recommend this upper for any builds that use the higher price point and quality rails, specifically any that use the bottom alignment tabs, on the market. This is why it gets 4 STARS and not 5. I sent some markups and comparisons to OW to review and request some of these changes. I was advised that these changes were being implemented, especially material being removed from the dust cover pin boss, but they only made that change and missed the opportunity to do the bottom. Maybe the next round guys! Still, this is a really well build, machined, and coated upper receiver!
